LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop Rolling Out Now

LG G Pad 8.3 GPe Lollipop roll out has begun. There has been no official announcement of the update just yet, but users on Twitter and the XDA forums have been reporting getting the system update notification.

Assuming this roll out runs on the same timeline as other Google roll outs, about 1% of LG G Pad 8.3 GPe users should see the update in the first 48 hours, and the stages will progress at about 25% of devices over one or two weeks, until it's all done.

There is also no full change log available to let us know about any device specific tweaks, but the update notification mentions the usual Android 5.0 features, like "a bold new visual style", lock screen notifications, battery saving mode, Priority Mode, and Smart Lock.

The Android One initiative was taken by Google to boost the smartphone adoption rate in emerging markets. Google launched Android One handsets with great promises not just by the company, but also by the homegrown players that collaborated with the search giant and came out with inexpensive handsets. Though, the Android One smartphones, which are priced at Rs. 6,399 onwards, have been advertised more than any other handset launched by the three companies, they failed to get the desired response.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Edge To Jump To Android 5.0.1 Directly

The latest news has it that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge will skip the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and go straight to an official update of 5.0.1 instead.

A screenshot from each showcases the newer firmware being tested on both and it's unlikely that Samsung would also work on porting the older 5.0 update.

Samsung works fast as the Android Lollipop 5.0.1 firmware was seeded at the beginning of the month and only yesterday a factory image for the Google Nexus 5 was seen.

As already witnessed what Samsung's TouchWiz looks like under Lollipop running on a Galaxy Note 4, so there will be few surprises.

There's a video also:

LG rolling out Android 5.0 to the G3 starting this week

LG has announced that its flagship G3 will start receiving an Android 5.0 Lollipop update this week, beginning with users in Poland. Naturally LG is staying clear of giving exact rollout dates for other regions, saying that "key markets" will get the update in "the near future." Of course that doesn't mean it's coming right away to G3 users around the world, but you have to think that if its ready to go for one model this week it's not far from hitting other devices, too.
As for specific new features and the rollout to other LG devices, things aren't so clear either. Based on the current information from LG it sounds like we're just waiting for it to actually hit phones before we'll know what LG has done with the latest software.
It'll be worth keeping an eye on the LG G3 forums for future bits of information as the software hits the wild.

LG G2 to Receive An Update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Even though it is getting long in the tooth by flagship smartphone standards, LG G2 looks set to receive an update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The news has reportedly been confirmed by an LG employee from Korea.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will reportedly bring LG’s UX 4.0 interface to the G2, as well as a number of other software tricks that are currently available on the LG G4. The device will unsurprisingly skip Android 5.1 and jump straight to Android 5.1.1.

An employee of LG software development department was reportedly able to confirm to AndroidPit that an update to Android 5.1.1 — the absolute latest version of Android available  is already in the making and will soon be headed to the LG G2.

The update is said to bring more than just a bigger firmware number, with the G2 receiving many of the same software features as found on the LG G4 thanks to an updated LG UX 4.0, the company’s custom Android user interface.

Development of the new firmware for the D802 is currently in progress. It should arrive on the smartphone within the next couple of months.
