LG G4 With Curved Display To Be Launched Late April

LG will reportedly launch its eagerly anticipated G series flagship smartphone, the LG G4, by the end of next month, to take on the company's biggest market rival Samsung, which is set to roll out its new Galaxy high-end devices starting the 10th of next month.

Citing unidentified sources, the Korean media reports that the LG G4 is likely to feature a curved display with Quad HD resolution like the G3, with a 5in screen.

Analysts believe that the G4 smartphone might become a "gamechanger for LG".

A research note from Kiwoom Securities said: "LG Electronics will take the upper ground in the second-tier battle. The LG G4 will sell 15 million units annually and add to the brand value of LG."

The sales figure for the G4 is expected to be much higher than the G3, which sold about seven million units since its launch in April last year.

"Despite the strong sales of the iPhone 6 and high expectations for the Galaxy S6, the sales of the G4 will be higher than the G3. We expect the sales of the G4 will reach 9.2 million units for 2015," according to the Korea Investment & Securities Co.

The company had previously confirmed that it aims to sell 10 million G4 units this year.

"LG Electronics aims to achieve the 10 million sales target of the G4 smartphone, which will be unveiled next month. Specifications of the G4 and changes we've made had been briefed to top outlet channels and European carriers during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) fair. Initial response was good enough," an LG official said at the fair.

LG G4 Android 5.1.1 Update Not Planned At The Moment: LG

Just over a week after LG said that it currently has no plans to update the G3 to Android 5.1 Lollipop, the company has given a similar heads-up about the G4 Android 5.1.1 update.

While no additional details were provided, it could be that the company may just be planning a jump straight to Android M for its latest flagship, too.

Meanwhile, Samsung's latest Galaxy S6 duo flagships have started receiving the Android 5.1.1 update - it is currently rolling out to T-Mobile and US Cellular units in the US. In addition, the S6 is getting it in France, while the S6 Edge is getting it in the UK.

LG Preparing LG-G4 and a whole new Flagship Line

LG has been showing off a few phones at MWC this year, but the top-end LG G4 hasn't been spotted. According to the company's mobile chief Cho Juno, the handset is going to be "radically different" to anything that's come before - both inside and outside.

The Korea Times reports a MWC interview with Juno in which he describes a phone that's a leap forward from the G3. It will feature a metal rather than polycarbonate casing, a major overhaul of its software design, and an improved user experience to boot.

It is expectd to see the LG G4 at some point over the next couple of months.
New chips and flagships

Confirmed that LG is working on a new high-performance mobile processor, one that may even appear in the LG G4.

"Producing our own mobile application chips is very important," he said. "As LG Electronics has been consistent in developing these, we plan to gradually incorporate them into our new models."

And there's word on those "new models" too.According to Juno, LG is busy on a new flagship line even more powerful than the G series - a new tier of high-performance handsets ready to be unleashed in the second half of 2015.

The LG G line is already very powerful, and Juno didn't specify exactly how the new series would be differentiated, but he very clearly stated that it would be something that "stands above" the company's existing phones. With that in mind, don't let LG's quiet MWC fool you - it has big plans in store.
